Our Community’s Funding

The Retreat is part of a special demonstration pilot project established through the Office of Policy Management (OPM), Department of Social Services (DSS), Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA), Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Department of Public Health (DPH).

These state agencies along with the Community Renewal Team (CRT) and large financial institutions have come together to make our assisted living community affordable for lower income seniors. Through a combination of federal low-income housing tax credits and a special Medicaid waiver passed by the Connecticut State Legislature, our members’ rents and costs of personal care are subsidized. The subsidy amount available for each member depends on individual member’s personal and financial situation.

To be eligible for an apartment in this special demonstration pilot project, a potential member needs to be approved for the Connecticut Home Care Program for the Elderly (CHCPE) through the Connecticut Department of Social Services’ Alternate Care Unit and be approved for Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. By calling our 860-560-CARE (2273) number our team members will offer more specifics about our program and help you through the application process.

Please give us a call now, as apartments several apartments are already in process of being rented and will not be available much longer.
