Dear Friend
We are proud to introduce The Retreat, the first urban-built affordable assisted living facility in Connecticut.
The Retreat is a community where neighbors become friends and friends become extended family. Our members, staff and visitors enjoy spending time together as we share our lives’ ups and downs. We are one of the most ethically diverse assisted living communities in our area and enjoy teaching each other about our various cultural backgrounds.
At The Retreat members can remain in their homes and let go of their worries. Our unique program offers peace of mind for our members through financial support provided by the State of Connecticut. Members are assured that our fees will remain affordable while they enjoy the same services and amenities associated with traditional assisted living facilities.
We consider all of us ‘members of our community,’ those who live and those who work at The Retreat. We strive to share our unique gifts, talents and passions with one another to live better lives. Our goal is to provide a comfortable home for our members, while they quietly receive the support needed to remain independent. At The Retreat, we believe that receiving appropriate medical care is the foundation for living a quality life, but it should not be the complete focus on one’s life.
Being owned and operated by the Hartford Assisted Living Limited Partnership Inc., an affiliate of the Community Renewal Team, Inc. (CRT), members and families of The Retreat can also explore numerous services already provided by CRT in the Greater Hartford community.
Apartment availability is limited, so don’t hesitate, call (860) 560-CARE (2273) today for more information.
Our compassionate, experienced and responsive staff look forward to offering you a tour of our new community,
and hope we have the opportunity to make our home yours. You’ll be glad you did!
The Retreat, A community you can call home.
Yours truly,
Gustave Keach-Longo

The Retreat is the first urban-built affordable assisted living community in Connecticut. Nestled in Hartford’s historic South Green neighborhood, The Retreat is located across the street from Hartford Hospital’s Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center on Retreat Avenue.
Every detail of our unique community is the result
of efforts to fulfill our mission: Create a Community Where We Want to Live! From our building and grounds to our members’ own pets and social programs, we strive to be much more than a traditional assisted living facility.
Our community consists of 100 apartments with a combination of, studios and one-bedrooms. Private bathrooms,
step or roll-in showers, kitchenettes, individually control-led heat and air conditioning and 24-hour emergency response system are standard features of each apartment. All homes are wheelchair accessible.
As part of The Retreat community, members and their guests are welcome to enjoy each other in any one of our five Family Rooms while relaxing with a movie or watching
their little visitors play with toys from our toy chests.
At The Retreat, we believe that receiving appropriate medical care is the foundation for living a quality life,
but it should not be the complete focus of one’s life. We consider all of us ‘members of our community’ (those
who live and those who work at The Retreat) as we strive to help one another live better lives. We each have our own unique gifts to share and we invite our members and staff to share their talents and passions with one another.
Social and recreational gatherings are
at our members’ fingertips and based on their interests. The “Civic Center” activity room offers a place for meeting friends and making new ones. Our members enjoy trips to local and state-wide attractions, join in games, arts and crafts or play rounds of billiards.
As a member of the community, you will have the freedom of participating in community events and programs as well as the use of several common areas within our building. At The Retreat, social, recreational and educational gatherings are the cornerstone of creating a community where we want to live. We believe that our services and programs must be tailored to meet the specific interests and needs of our members. As a member of this community, we want you to be an active participant as we create a community where we want to live. From daily spontaneous activities to scheduled visits to local cultural sites, we help each other maintain an active, healthy and fulfilling lifestyle based on your interests and the interests of our neighbors.
